The compilation of age-specific demographic data of vertebrates in the Laboratory of Biometry and Evolutionary Biology (LBBE) takes us back to 1985 and the research program ATIPE CNRS granted to Jean-Dominique Lebreton. We are grateful to all colleagues and students who have contributed to this data collection since then, through various research projects on comparative demography. In particular, we warmly thank Jean-Dominique Lebreton, Jean Clobert, Dominique Pontier, Jacques Trouvilliez, Dominique Allainé, Christophe Pélabon, Anne Loison, Carole Toïgo, Christophe Bonenfant, Marlène Gamelon, Vérane Berger, Morgane Tidière and Solène Cambreling.
We are extremely grateful to Lionel Humblot and Bruno Spataro for building the Malddaba database and for all our stimulating discussions during its development. We also deeply thank Jacques Masson for creating this website.
The animal photos on the home page were taken by Jean-Baptiste Pons (greater horseshoe bat), Paul Revelli (roe deer) and Christophe Guinet (orca). We thank them for sharing these pictures with us.
Finally, we would to thank the CNRS and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) for the successive fundings that enabled us to set up this database over the years, as well as the Laboratoire de Biométrie et Biologie Evolutive for their support.
